Father Sebastian loads ‘Beyond Religion’ unto his computer and it is seen by DEACON MICHAEL who finds its premise, ‘That there is no need for Organized Religion’, offensive and forwards the manuscript to the Archdioceses. ARCHBISHOP RONALDI receives the email and finds the material subversive and detrimental to the Church. He sets out to squelch the publication of ‘Beyond Religion.’ But when he doesn’t succeed and ‘Beyond Religion’ is picked up by PURNELL PUBLISHING,

the Archbishop sets out to destroy Mark.

Mark goes on his BOOK TOUR with HOPE PURNELL. He does talk shows, radio shows, launch parties, receptions, signings, and lectures. He participates in an international televised event called THE GREAT DEBATE with Religious Leaders from all prominent faiths and his book skyrockets to tremendous success. Mark grows rich and famous. His unorthodox ideas attract a CULT FOLLOWING. 

Meanwhile the Archbishop enlists the help of a Secret Society, THE ORDAIRE DI SOPHIA, an ancient order of women dedicated to protecting the Sophia [or Wisdom] of Jesus. LISA SABATINO/ARIEL, a ‘Sophia’ is allied with Deacon Michael by the Archbishop to track and destroy Mark. There is an unsuccessful HIT on Mark’s life in Atlanta. The news story about it solicits a Movie deal for Purnell Publishing. Mark wants to go home but Hope is ecstatic.

Mark, getting swept away by fame and fortune, almost falls for, and sleeps with his publisher. He is betrayed by someone close to him and at the CLOSING RECEPTION Mark Ponte’ and Hope Purnell are murdered.
